I found this idea on another art teacher's website: Deep Space Sparkle
4th grade students learned about the environment and spacial relationships in art. We talked about the artist Claude Monet, and his use of color in landscapes. Student's also discovered what a birch tree looked like and that they grow in clusters. We don't have many birch tress in VA, but the ones we do have are yellow, not white like our trees!
Student's used masking tape to create the trees first. Next, the worked with water color paints to draw the horizon line and add color to the sky. After they were done painting, we added salt to the wet paint, to add texture. Our last step was to add the shadows and details!
Enjoy our results!
These are one of my FAVORITE projects ever! If my child did one of these I would have it matted and framed.
